QikServe and FreedomPay Address the EMV Challenge in Hospitality

Integration allows hospitality operators to quickly deploy secure, PCI-compliant payment solutions that do not require additional EMV certification

Edinburgh, UK & Radnor, PA – August 31, 2016 – QikServe, the mobile order and payment specialist, today announced its technology has been certified on the FreedomPay Commerce Platform. The integration allows QikServe to offer its hospitality customers a powerful and secure option for handling payments and transactions with PCI-validated point-to-point encryption (P2PE), and provides EMV (chip and pin) certification out-of-the-box.

QikServe’s patented ‘Waiter in Your Pocket’ technology lets guests order and pay for their food and drinks directly from a smartphone, web site or kiosk. The integration with FreedomPay’s Commerce Platform enables QikServe to quickly deploy mobile ordering solutions that require traditional and emerging payments technologies like magstripe, EMV, ApplePay and near-field communication (NFC).

Distribution deal to bring mobile ordering and payment technology to the Netherlands

Hotel mobile apps lagging behind; fail to wow customers

Over two-thirds of consumers using mobile devices for travel research/booking but unimpressed by hotel apps or unaware of their existence

Edinburgh, UK – June 15, 2016 – QikServe, the mobile order and payment specialist, today announced that consumers are overwhelmingly underwhelmed by the mobile apps currently provided by hotels.

A QikServe survey found that more than two-thirds of consumers are using their mobile phone to research, book and pay for services relating to travel. But an overwhelming majority of respondents – 81% – felt that hotel apps were behind the times or lacking functionality, or were simply unaware that they even existed.

QikServe secures funding round and targets Series A – Industry heavyweight Martin Mutch joins board as Chairman

Edinburgh, February 2016 – QikServe, which provides best-of-class technology to the hospitality industry allowing customers to order and pay directly by smartphone, has entered a partnership with US tech giant Oracle by which QikServe is fully integrated into Oracle Hospitality’s point of sale (POS) platform. QikServe’s patented ‘Waiter in your Pocket’ app lets guests order and pay for their food and drinks straight from their smartphones for either pick-up, delivery or in-store dining. A major feature of the app is that it automatically captures customer data which can be sued by the operator to power highly targeted marketing campaigns.

Martin MutchAt the end of January, QikServe completed its latest funding round at just over $1 million (£750,000) led by Par Equity, Equity Gap and Scottish Investment Bank (SIB). The fast-growing startup has appointed Cobalt Corporate Finance as advisers and is targeting a Series A round in the region of $7 million (£5 million) in late 2016 or early 2017.

QikServe also announces the appointment of Martin Mutch as Chairman. Mutch was a Global Account Manager for Oracle Corporation before setting up IT consultancy business Rocela in 2002. One of Scotland’s most successful IT players of the 2000s, Rocela was sold to Dublin-based IT services group, Version 1, in December 2013.

QikServe Press HMSHostQikServe’s ‘The Waiter in your Pocket’ app wins deal with HMSHost International

Edinburgh, April 8, 2015 – QikServe, which provides technology to the hospitality industry allowing customers to order and pay directly by mobile phone, has announced a deal with HMSHost International, the world’s leading provider of food and beverage services to travellers at over 100 airport locations worldwide.

QikServes’ so-called ‘Waiter in your Pocket’ app has begun rollout at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol following a successful pilot scheme at the end of 2014. In partnership with HMSHost, QikServe is extending its initial ‘at table’ service to include ‘order ahead’ functionality and ultimately a comprehensive customer engagement and loyalty scheme. At an airport like Schiphol this means that passengers will be able to order ahead while going through security, en route to their gates or when disembarking flights.

QikServe provides ordering interface for PayPal app, giving customers the option to place their order and pay through their smartphone.

London & Edinburgh, UK – April 23, 2014 – Mobile technology company QikServe today announced a collaboration with PayPal that will allow the UK hospitality sector to take orders and payment using the PayPal app on their customer’s smartphone.

QikServe’s mobile ordering solution can now be integrated into PayPal’s payment app. This means that restaurants and bars can offer customers the choice to order and pay for food and drink through their smartphone, creating a seamless experience for customers.

Designed to make paying even easier, this collaboration means less time waiting and is one step closer to a wallet-less future. The long wait in line is often an issue for consumers; in a PayPal study 76% of Britons stated they disliked having to wait in long queues, and almost 80% of those surveyed wished they didn’t have to carry a wallet.
